The Disappearing Twin

Hi, this is Summer again. You're going to be sick of hearing from me, but there are new developments in my twin saga. Well, actually... the new development is sort of a lack of a development. I should back up, though.

A couple of days ago, Marigold told me she wanted to come visit. She was pretty vague about some things, though... like when she was coming, or how she was getting here, or what her parents had to say about the whole thing. We hadn't really resolved anything when she said she had to go, but I figured I'd just talk to her about it the next time we chatted.

There hasn't been a next time. I haven't heard anything from Marigold since that conversation. She hasn't been online or answered e-mails. I've tried phoning her, but it always goes to voicemail. I'm starting to get really worried!

I'm not sure what I can do about it, though. She lives really far away. I don't know her street address, or her parents' first names. All I know is her surname and that she lives in Toronto - but it's a pretty common name, and there are dozens of families in the phone listings. I don't want to bug her, but I don't know if she's alright or not, and I don't know how to find out.

In other news, Inna has been hearing rumours that the group of fair folk (fairies) we rescued Senara from - we found out that they call themselves the Stonecrown Court, after our rocky landscape  - are really upset at us, and are planning to do something to get back at us. This... isn't really a big surprise. We actually kind of figured. Maybe we should be more scared, but this was kind of just the expected result.

This isn't the first time we've had powerful supernatural creatures after us. I'm honestly more worried about Marigold.

Love,
Summer

  1. Summer,

I'm sure everything is okay with Marigold. I've heard that the simplest situation is generally true. Maybe she just went camping with her family and her phone is out of service? And she said she wanted to come visit because she was trying to get out of camping?

Okay, that's not the simplest explation. I'll keep Marigold in my thoughts. I hope she's safe!

    Love,

    Inky

P.S. I hope everything works out with the Fair Folk. The situations your family is in always sound so scary, but think- you've prevailed every time. You can do it again!

Hi Inky! Yeah, that... might not be the simplest explanation. ;-)

I was talking about it with Kirsten, though, and Kirsten said, "Maybe you offended her."

I couldn't think of anything I might have said that would offend, but I seem to be stepping on a lot of toes lately, so I was open to the possibility. I asked what I might have done.

Kirsten replied, "Maybe when you asked her a bunch of questions instead of just acting excited, she thought you didn't want to see her after all."

      That... might be true.

I honestly don't think my questions were out of line. It's hard to prepare for a guest when you have no clue when they're coming or how long they're staying, and we could get in big legal trouble if she came here without her parents' permission.

Maybe I gave the wrong impression anyway, though? Maybe I asked in a way that seemed rude? Or maybe I should have waited to ask stuff until a later time?

I don't know. I feel like I'm striking out a lot lately. There's not really anything I can do but wait, I guess.

I hope that if she really is just mad at me, she'll get over it and talk to me again. I'd hate to lose a sister before I even know her, especially over such a silly misunderstanding.

By the way, yeah, I'm sure everything will work out with the fair folk. When you've been in as many scary situations as we have, nothing sounds all that scary anymore. We're trying to take reasonable precautions, but we're not too freaked out. ;-)

      Love,
      Summer

  2. Hi Summer!

Don't worry! However, I wonder if the fairy folk have anything to do with this... I hope not! I'm sure Marigold is fine though and she'll come visit. :)

Hi Reese! That's an interesting thought. (Somewhat unsettling, but interesting.) The fair folk would definitely use Marigold to get back at us if they could. I hope she's okay and just hasn't had a chance to get in touch, but we still haven't heard anything, and before this we were talking every day. I can't help worrying.

      Summer

P.S. Reese, did you change your blog address? We can't find it anymore! :-(

  3. Salut, Summer!
I understand your panic. I'd be worried, too. Maybe she's just busy? I hope she's safe and nobody came after her...

Hi, Sabine! I hope you're right that she's just busy. It's possible. This is a busy time of year for a lot of families. It's also possible that they went on vacation and she forgot to mention it. I'll feel better when we hear from her one way or the other.

      Love,
      Summer
